Case Studies in Antithrombotic Therapy
Description: George Fritsma, MS, MLS discusses a number of case studies for antithrombotic therapy, including therapy with thrombolytics, glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors (GPIs), and unfractionated heparin; chromogenic factor X testing; coumadin allergies/resistance; and the need for monitoring new oral anticoagulants such as dabigatran and rivaroxaban.
Learning objectives — at the conclusion of this program participants will be able to:
• Describe new oral anticoagulants and their mode of action and efficacy
• Discuss means for appropriate monitoring of these new anticoagulants
