The Power of Pharmacogenomics in Clinical Practice
Description: Dr Kain discusses the power of pharmacogenomic testing and its contribution to clinical practice. Advances in genetic testing and the understanding of gene/drug interactions have enabled strategies for individualizing therapy for patients, reducing adverse drug events, and limiting the undesirable side effects.
At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
• Discuss the history of pharmacogenomics (PGx) and where the science is now – what it is, how it works and why it works
• Illustrate the role of pharmacogenomics testing in clinical practice and the economic value to the patient and health system
• Interpret the results of a PGx report and what it means in the clinical path
